Abstract | The investigation of the variables related to the mental health of teaching candidates is important since teachers' mental health affects students' personal, social, and academic development. The purpose of this research was to investigate the intermediary role of hope in the relationship between the social entrepreneurship characteristics and the psychological well-being in teaching candidates. The sample consisting of 855 teaching candidates was chosen randomly. The data were collected using the Psychological Well-being Scale, the Pre-service Teachers' Social Entrepreneurship Qualifications Scale, the Dispositional Hope Scale, and a Demographic Information Form. Descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation, and regression-based bootstrapping method were used in the analysis. The results showed that teaching candidates' social entrepreneurship characteristics were significantly positively correlated with their psychological well-being and two components of hope (alternative ways of thinking and actuating thinking). Besides, it was found that alternative ways of thinking and actuating thinking had some partial mediating roles in the relationship between the social entrepreneurship characteristics and the psychological well-being in the teaching candidates. Finally, this study offered some suggestions based on the discussion of the findings in the light of the related literature. (As Provided). |
